DAKSHINKALI: This temple located 22 km southwest from Kathmandu city. This is one of the most famous temples in Nepal and dedicated to Kali. The fearful form of Lord Shiva’s wife. Dakshin mean south and Kali is derived from Hindu goddess. It means the goddess Kali of the south. Animal sacrifices, particularly of cocks and male goats, are the main way that the goddess is worshipped, and this is especially seen on Saturdays and Tuesdays, and also during the yearly festival Dashain held in September/October. On the way there is a village called Pharping, the pleasant spot is known as Sheka Narayan. There is a pond filled with crystal clear water and lots of gold fish types fishes swimming around.
